We had a wonderful Thanksgiving with Steph’s parents and parked our trailer in Indianapolis for a few weeks before heading down to Rocky Mount where our ministry is based out of. Our home church is located in the same town as my family, so we were able to enjoy time at Westview Baptist as well as enjoy some time with my family. The cousins were probably the highlight of the kids’ break, and there was never enough time to play. Stephanie was able to go to Texas and visit her sister for a few days. RIght before New Years, Steph and I went to Wilmington for a few days to enjoy some time together before heading back out on the road. We had a great time of resting and fellowship, but we are ready for another semester of ministry!

I had the wonderful opportunity to travel to Israel to see my sister, Ardis, this Christmas break. One cannot imagine how powerful and alive the Bible becomes when you stand in the places that Jesus stood and walk where He walked. The trips through Galilee and Jerusalem were eye-opening and it was amazing to see that God’s promises to His nation are still being kept! It was also sad to see the oppression that Israel still faces and then the rejection of Christ from so many “religious” Jews; but then it was incredible seeing the congregation of believers singing praises to God in Hebrew! The rest of Christmas break flew by with visits to family and friends.

I really enjoyed our fall semester of traveling, but it was also great to have a break and catch up with family and friends. I had a great time seeing my parents, 3 of my 4 siblings, and my 3 nieces in Louisville for Thanksgiving. After that I made my way back to Maine and worked construction for 3 weeks until Christmas. I was given opportunities to play snare drum, keyboard, and piano for a few different church Christmas programs. Two days before Christmas I was able to go skiing and had a fantastic time, even though I came back having dislocated my shoulder again. Ham radio also piqued my interest over break enough to convince me to get one. Overall I was very grateful for the break, and came out refreshed and ready for another semester of ministry.

It was so refreshing being back home in Colorado for Thanksgiving and Christmas. I spent a lot of time with my family and catching up with friends. One of my favorite memories was working with my brothers. My brother Sam does snow removal during the winters, so every time it snowed, he, my other brother Zach, and I got up early and plowed/shoveled snow all day. It was definitely hard work, but it was fun simply spending time with them, belting out songs at the top of our lungs, eating lots of food, and (of course) shoveling LOTS of snow. Since there was lots of snow over the break, I got to go up to the Rockies with my family and ski for a few days. Pictures can’t capture and words can’t describe how beautiful the views are from 12,000 feet above sea level. By far my favorite memory from the break was just gathering around the long kitchen table with the whole family sitting listening to Grandma & Grandpa Nelson and Oma & Opa Stoeckmann telling the stories of Christmases when they were young. I am so grateful to have all 4 grandparents living still, so any chance I get to soak up their wisdom and hear about their lives are definitely memories that I will treasure forever.

This break I visited my Grandma up in Michigan for Christmas. This is a family tradition, which I look forward to every year. It was awesome to see family again, and spend time with people I don’t see very often. I reminded how blessed I am to have such a great family to spend Christmas with. Also over break,  I was able to see some friends that I have not seen in a few years. It was great to reconnect with those friends, and spending some quality time with family. I am looking forward to this upcoming semester to see what God has for us.

Carol Anne: Our Christmas break was a much needed time of rest and fellowship with family. After the business of last semester and the excitement of Asa's birth in early October, our new little family got to get away for a few days in Orlando, FL. We had so much fun exploring parts of Orlando and Downtown Disney. Over the rest of break Matt and I were blessed with the time to reconnect and refocus for our last semester of traveling. It's so hard to know that our journey ends in May with Coffey Ministries but the discipleship and friendships that we've gained from our two years here will continue to impact us for the rest of our lives.
Matt: I had a very enjoyable break season. I spent time with my wife and Asa. I spent some quality time with my parents and siblings as well as Carol Anne’s family. I worked in construction for a few days while we were in Alabama. They loved seeing Asa and smothered him with some good grandparent/aunt/uncle love. I helped my dad out with a few projects around the house, and he helped me repair my trailer brakes. I am really enjoying this season of life where I get to spend some quality time with family and friends.
