One crazy aspect about traveling that not many people know is how seriously we take birthdays. From the middle of September to the beginning of October, our team has a birthday bash almost every week! Ella, Brad, Stephanie and Asher all had their birthdays during last three weeks. Of course, Jobe got added into the fun this year!Brad and Steph celebrated their birthdays on September 16 in Romeo, MI. Even though it was her birthday, Stephanie made the cake and the decorations…but she got to make her cake exactly like she wanted…a wonderful masterpiece of chocolate, coconut and almonds. Of course, we loaded it with as many candles as we had since there were two celebrations to celebrate.
For Ella’s birthday, we weren’t sure who was more excited - Ella or her brothers! Stephanie went all out with the cake, making a piñata type cake. Fortunately, we didn’t whack at it to get the candy out. The candy was all over the top and even had a whole bunch of Ella’s favorite candy concealed in the middle of the cake. Before the party ended, our team played a little game of hide-and-go-seek. We all had so much fun. It was definitely a memorable birthday. Probably the funniest part was trying to let Ella blow out her candles. In mid-song and right before she puffed them out, Liam beat her to it…and we went for take two.
The beginning of October was Asher’s day. The present pile was overflowing for the little man. Even though baby Jobe came a few days before Asher’s birthday, we still were able to squeeze in a special party for him and enjoyed a rainbow cake. We loved celebrating Asher’s fifth birthday!
For every birthday, we enjoy picking out special gifts that the birthday person will love, but the most special part of the birthday party happens before the birthday gifts are ever opened. We always take some time to share with the birthday person how much we love and appreciate them, and then we have a word of prayer and ask God to bless them. Words are gifts, and it’s always a blessing to communicate love and gratitude to each person on their special day!
Whew! So many blessings on our team to have such wonderful people and times that we can celebrate the life God has given us. We are so thankful for each of our team members and look forward to the hiatus between birthday seasons…until next semester!
