First Baptist Church (Waupaca, WI)

Our second week in Wisconsin brought us to Waupaca, WI to First Baptist Church. Pastor Josh Haney’s emphasis for the week was a Family Conference. Hoping to see the Lord work in very evident ways throughout the week, we jumped right in to the church activities.

After a very encouraging morning service, we hung out with the teens for a paintball activity they were holding in the woods behind the church. We love opportunities to get involved with the teens as early as possible in the week! And with so many trees changing color for the fall, the day was an exciting beginning to the week. Sunday night after the services, we had some quality autumn time, carving pumpkins with the Coffey kids. I think the team might have gotten into it a little more than the children did, but that’s the great thing about having them around – you can have the fun you used to and it’s perfectly acceptable!

By fellowshipping with the students before chapels and connecting at lunchtime, we got to know the students at the Christian school pretty quickly! One of their favorite things was playing Nine Square in the gym. They asked Pastor Tyler, the youth pastor, when they could get their own. The girls’ volleyball team had a couple of games as well, and we saw them win bot of their matches—without too much effort. We are thankful for so much time with them at the beginning of the week before the teen activity on Wednesday afternoon.  Even Thursday’s Irish Concert brought in more visitors through the teen’s efforts to make sure all of the youth of the church came. God has used this past week to work in the teens in a new and exciting way in many hearts.

Pastor Haney planned a day at Camp Tamarac to finish up the family conference. A delicious meal, some fun music and games led up to a campfire time with the whole group. The men lit a humongous bonfire to bring us all together to sing and share what God has been doing in the hearts of the church during the week. How good of God to answer prayer!
