God's Love, Wisdom, and Sovereignty

Last spring, our team made many amazing memories as we made the long trek out west. We visited several national parks, tasted a few different cuisines, went scorpion hunting, and many other memorable experiences that are unique to the west.

One distinct memory I will never forget is from our time in Bakersfield, CA. What seemed like it would be a normal Sunday morning, quickly turned to lots of questions and confusion.
When we arrived at the church, we discovered our cargo trailer was stolen. At first, I thought it was a cruel joke someone was trying to play on the team. We soon discovered this was our new reality. Initially, my reaction was, “God, why would you allow this to happen? You know our ministry and how vital that trailer is to us.”

But throughout that week, despite the frustrations of our new reality, God was working in each of our hearts to show us how He can provide beyond our abilities to do so. I remember praying with Liam Coffey that week and he said “God, we know you’re good to us, even though it doesn’t always feel that way.” I think that prayer summed up how most of us were feeling that week.
God provided a new trailer that was bigger and better than our previous trailer. His provision was so humbling for our team to experience. As a team we were reading through Jerry Bridge’s book, Trusting God, which was no coincidence given the different trials we faced both as individuals and as a team.

I feel like this quote from Trusting God is such an encouragement to believers as we navigate the trials that God allows in our lives, “God in His love always wills what is best for us. In His wisdom He always knows what is best, and in His sovereignty, He has the power to bring it about.”
