Traveling has been one of the most eye-opening experiences of my life. My favorite part is going from church to church and witnessing the diversity of the body of Christ. Every Church is different.Yes, there are many similarities (and there better be!) when it comes to doctrine and purpose - that Jesus is all in all and has finished the work of taking the payment for our sins on the cross and that we must spread that news to all.
But the application of that Gospel truth is practiced and displayed in so many different ways. I am so thankful God doesn’t make us all the same! God brings the exact skill sets that He wants into a church. It is each of those gifts and skills in the members of the body of Christ in various churches who have encouraged me, challenged me, and pushed me to be more like my Savior, Jesus Christ. God is growing me through them.
But in much the same way God is growing me through the Coffey Team members. Each of them push me to be more – more dependent, more loving, more in the Word, more like Christ. We are all so different, but I wouldn’t trade this experience for anything. The Lord has blessed us and given us more opportunities than I can count to be an encouragement and help to others. Our travels are not done yet (and I am by no means perfect or even good), I still have much to learn. But even if I were to head home now, I know that in the limited time I have been with the Coffey Team, I definitely have been shaped more and more to look, think and act like Jesus.
