Wondering what the team members were up to this summer? We are here to let you know! God gave us each different ministries to be a part of all over the world this summer. Here is just a little bit of what we were all doing this summer break.
I worked at Northland Camp as a Team Leader! It was a great experience, having the added pressure of being the energy of the team as well as having my own cabin that I was counseling. God taught me through the summer study out of Philippians 2 a great deal about my lack of humility and the different areas of my life it affected. I was blessed to see how God, in His grace, grew me even when I went home after the summer. I also got to enjoy a week visiting Bree in Winnipeg. We even road tripped all the way to Calgary to visit Banff! What a great summer!
I had the opportunity to travel on a musical mission team to Europe for 10 weeks. We traveled to Germany, France, Switzerland, Austria, the Netherlands, and the Czech Republic. We gave choir and brass concerts for many churches and Christian hotels throughout Europe. I had opportunities to sing and lead the choir at various times. God used Philippians 4:6-7 to teach me about worry and trusting God. Worry is a lack of trust in God and His plan for us. If I am worrying, I should turn to God in pray with a thankful heart. Only then will I experience a peace the world cannot understand.
I had the opportunity to serve with the Coffeys this summer in a new ministry called Spread the Word in the Detroit, MI area. I served as the team leader for a group of eight interns through Inter-City Baptist Church. The program’s emphasis was to reach as many people as possible with the good news of Jesus Christ, so the leadership pushed us in several different ways. Each of us had many opportunities to share the gospel and helped the churches we visited connect with their communities. It was very rewarding! I also had a few weeks before and after the internship to spend some time traveling with my family, including visiting four different national parks – tons of fun! While I didn’t get much downtime this summer, it was definitely enjoyable and worthwhile.
God allowed me to go on three different mission trips. I went to Israel and was able to play violin in so many amazing places. I played on a boat on the Sea of Galilee, outside the Garden Tomb, in some Messianic congregations, etc. I played “The Holy City” on our tour bus going into Jerusalem, which was an awesome experience. In Honduras, I played violin in a church where, apparently, some of the people had not ever seen a violin played in "real life." What an amazing opportunity that was! My last mission trip was an orchestra mission trip to Hungary. We were able to give multiple concerts during our time there. A couple of the concerts were outdoors, which was exciting and definitely an experience. God is so good, and He is so kind to allow me to use violin all over the world.
