Second semester comes with another rush of birthdays for the rest of the team members.
Jason’s birthday on March 13th was celebrated at Johnson City, TN. His birthday party definitely reflected his fun and spontaneous personality with random outbursts of wrestling with the boys, playing some “pranks” on Mr. Brad so that Aaron could see our version of copy cat that we do every week in the Secret Keepers, to very rough hugs and lots and lots of yelling things. Steph made Jason’s favorite of fajitas and a cheesecake – a very special, never-before-seen birthday cake. And it was delicious! Thanks for serving with us Jason!
A few weeks later, it was Ardis’ and Becca’s turn for a birthday celebration. Sunday night at Emmanuel Baptist Church in Winchester, VA the guys decorated the lobby with streamers and balloons while Steph made some Reuben sandwiches. We had such a good time being goofy, playing Taboo, and speaking words of encouragement. It was a fun evening of celebrating, eating, and laughing. We love these special times with close friends!
Since Aaron’s birthday (August 17) is celebrated when the team isn’t together, we decided to surprise him with a party! Surprises are so much fun, and obviously every birthday party (even ones not celebrated on your actual birthday) needs presents, cake and words of affirmation. We bought a new set of golf clubs for Aaron that he had been eyeing, and the team picked them up secretively. He was definitely surprised to pull those out of the truck where they had been hiding. Mission accomplished!
