Jesus is Worth It

I have traveled and lived in a trailer my whole life. I have gotten to see many incredible places and meet some amazing people. There are three aspects of relationships that I have while traveling. First is the team members who serve with us. Team members aren't just close friends. They end up becoming like family and are people who see the good, the bad, and the ugly, yet continue to love you. Team members have pushed me to love Christ and challenge me to grow. Second are friends that I have met while serving in their church. I have met some of my closest friends because of traveling on the road. It’s sweet to have friends that are peers that can relate as a fellow teen, but still love Jesus most. Third are the people I interact with from week to week as we minister in their church. This goes from engaging with the children in the kids’ program, to hanging out with the youth group, to fellowshipping with church people at the evening services. These relationships are so sweet, because we all have something in common…Jesus. Traveling on the road has a lot of blessings, but I’ve also had to wrestle through some harder things as well.
Sometimes when I compare my life to others, I question God’s plan for my life and whether it’s actually best. I have sometimes viewed traveling as something I have to do because that’s what God has called my parents to do, but I truly believe it’s what he’s called me to do as well. There are still many things I have to work through while traveling on the road, but God is changing me.
It wasn’t until last year that I really started to admit that I was bitter towards what God had called me to do. One night I was struggling with trusting God and believing that what He had planned for me was good. I was talking to a friend (that I met while traveling) and he really challenged me with who God was and what a privilege it is to serve Him on the road.

He said, “You’re serving your Savior. What greater joy is there than that?”. I have replayed those words over and over in my head. I had never thought of traveling as a privilege, but rather just my life. God really used my friend to help me see traveling differently. Serving my Savior isn’t something I have to do (even though my parents ask me to do it), but rather it’s something I get to do.

Jesus is worth it.
He’s worth obeying, even when it’s hard.
He’s worth trusting even when I don’t understand.
He’s worth serving even when it’s uncomfortable.
Jesus is worth it.
