February 14-19, 2021 Oak Ridge Baptist Church, Oak Ridge, TN We had a beautiful drive to Oak Ridge, TN and arrived at Oak Ridge Baptist Church on Friday, February 12. We held regular services on Sunday. We enjoyed meeting people there and the church and beginning relationships. After the Sunday evening service, we had our annual Valentine’s Day party. It was fun to enjoy some crazy challenges/games together, and also let each other know the little ways and things we love about each other. On Monday evening, the church hosted a Ladies Night. Bethany, Stephanie, Hannah, and Stephanie had the opportunity to lead music and some gave testimonies of what God’s been doing in their life. Stephanie Coffey spoke about how God can use our weaknesses to actually help us grow and seek His grace in the midst of hard things. There were many special conversations that we got to have with various ladies in the church which was encouraging both to our hearts and theirs. On Tuesday evening, the church hosted a Men’s Night. Phil, Riley, and Mike lead music for the men, and Aaron then preached about Moses and how God has enabled us for the work He has called us to do. They had several opportunities to interact with different men during conversations. It was special to be able to talk to and learn from many wise men there in the church. A highlight from the week was when Pastor Bobby McCoy shared his testimony from his vehicle accident with our team. He became a quadapalegic after a car accident while he was in college, and since then, he has learned so much about who God is. He shares with so many people what God’s done and is doing in his life. His sweet testimony was good for our team to hear, and seeing his special relationship with his congregation was a blessing. We finished the week there with an Irish concert on Wednesday night, and a teen activity on Thursday night. We had several teens come out and it was a great opportunity to partner with the youth staff there and serve their teens. February 20-26, 2021
Bethel Baptist Church Cary, NC We pulled into Cary, NC to Bethel Baptist Church to begin our time of ministry together starting on February 21. On Sunday morning, the church hosted a coffee and donut fellowship so that we could meet people in the church. The relaxed setting was a nice way to begin the week of building new relationships. Sunday evening Riley, Bethany, and Hannah had a night with the teens, and Phil took Mike and Stephanie W. to began the week of Kid’s Program. Since this week looked a little different, we did something different and enjoyed walking through the story of Pilgrim’s Progress throughout the week. Phil would teach a lesson that went along with the part of the movie that was played. He then asked questions so that the kids would really understand the lessons and what was being portrayed about the Christian life through the story of Pilgrim’s Progress. We had regular services Sunday through Wednesday evening, with a Family Fun Night on Thursday, and an Irish concert on Friday. The people in the church really enjoyed fellowshipping, so we loved being able to connect with church members after the services. We had a unique opportunity this week to interact with the school that meets at the facility there on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday. It’s a homeschool co-op group that has grown quite a bit and rents out the church facility to hold classes. We also held sessions that included music and games. Some of these students brought their families out to the services throughout the week. We know that these opportunities with the school will help the church to have a new connecting point with these families!
