April 11-17, 2021 Colonial Baptist Church Blue Ridge, VA This week we were in the beautiful Blue Ridge mountains at Colonial Baptist Church. The church was set in a beautiful area of Virginia and we loved connecting and serving with the people at this church. The people were so sweet and they loved conversing before and after services. We had regular services Sunday-Tuesday. This congregation loved being able to sing, and it was really encouraging to hear the congregation lift up the hearts in worship. It is good for a church to be able to sing together, cry together, but to also laugh together. This congregation loved Family Fun Night and really got into the games and activities. It was so fun to watch. Irish Concerts are always a lot of fun and we enjoyed this outreach opportunity that we had with this church. Before the services, we held pre sessions. Riley led the teen pre-sessions, and each of the girls on the team took turns to do the kids pre-sessions. They would usually correlate with the lesson that would be taught later in the night during the kids program. We had some special memories that we made during this week as well. We held our Master’s Tournament on Sunday night. Riley and Phil set up a 18-hole mini golf course throughout the entire church, and the team was split up into teams to complete it. We had a lot of fun spending time together and completing the course. At the end, Phil won the tournament and earned the green jacket. We also had an opportunity to make the pastor emeritus’ wife, Barb Wegner’s birthday special. We dressed up in funny costumes and played happy birthday and You Are My Sunshine. It was such a special and fun way to celebrate her. This was a special week and we loved being at Colonial Baptist. We loved how Pastor Joel Wegner connected with each person on the team and how he got to know us each individually. It made an impact on our team, and made our time at this church so sweet and special. April 18-24, 2021
Faith Baptist Church Morgantown, WV After being in Virginia for a couple of weeks, we drove to the college town of Morgantown, West Virginia. We were at Faith Baptist Church and it was such a great week. We held regular services Sunday-Tuesday. After each service, you would see many of the team members talking with people in the congregation and sharing ways that the Lord has worked in their lives. Wednesday night we did our Irish Concert which was a lot of fun. Faith’s congregation really got into the concert with clapping and singing along! It was such a blessing and enjoyable way to share Gospel seeds with the Morgantown community. Prior to the Monday and Wednesday services, Faith Baptist Family provided a meal for the whole church family. The meal times were such a special way to connect with the church people and get to know them better. Both nights after the meal and before the service, the teens and our team would play a pickup game of volleyball or other games. It was a fun way to encourage them to come out to the dodgeball tournament. On Thursday, our team ran a dodgeball tournament that was hosted by the church. It was an exciting tournament with some unexpected underdog wins! Aaron preached his testimony to around 50 young people. There was sweet fellowship while eating pizza and playing pick up games after the tournament.

Fellowship Baptist Church, Jacksonville, NC After spring break, our team came back together to serve at Fellowship Baptist Church in Jacksonville, NC. We enjoyed the different opportunities to connect with the people at Fellowship Baptist during Sunday School, regular services on Sunday morning & afternoon, and Monday & Wednesday evenings. There were many nights that we would fellowship with church members long after the service had finished. On Tuesday evening, we held a Family Fun Night, and it was a blast to see the church have fun together. Friday evening we held an Irish concert! Throughout the week, there were various ways that we built relationships with the kids and teens in the youth group and the Christian school. A couple different times throughout the week, Phil had the opportunity to speak in an elementary chapel. It was a great way the kids program that we did during the evening services as well as plant seeds of truth into their hearts. Similarly, Riley and Aaron had opportunities to speak in the teen chapels. It was definitely an important way that they each got to build connections with the teens to encourage them to invite others and come out for the Cola War on Thursday. Thursday evening, we drove to a school nearby to use their gym for the Cola War. The teens were very involved and open to talking with us before and after the event. This was a special week in that our team enjoyed reuniting and being together again after being apart. It was unique because the team stayed and worked right there on the property. The church bought a Catholic school when it started up and it had an old convent building there. Different families in the church picked out a room to decorate before our arrival, and each of us loved connecting with the specific families who designed and worked on our specific rooms. We enjoyed serving, ministering to, and fellowshipping with the people from Fellowship! We can’t wait to go back. February 28- March 5 Dublin First Baptist Church Dublin, NC This was our first time at Dublin First Baptist, and our team absolutely loved our time here at this church. On Sunday morning, we held two different services. The first service was an outdoor service. It was definitely a unique service in that we were outside on the porch of the church while the people in attendance were in their cars. In fact, instead of hearing a hearty “Amen,” you would hear those horns honk! For the rest of the week, we held regular services Sunday-Tuesday. Before the services, we held teen pre-sessions which challenged them spiritually and also encouraged them to invite friends out for the Cola War on Wednesday night. Wednesday was a unique night in that we held both a Cola War and a regular service. We had a great turnout and were thankful for the guests who came! The adults, teens, and kids brought visitors to the services throughout the week. In fact, one of the visitors in the kids’ program accepted Christ as his Savior! It was such a sweet thing to see the people in the church celebrate! Our team really enjoyed connecting with the people before and after the service. Lots of good conversations were happening throughout the week, and we were encouraged by the fellowship. One day during the week, the pastor and assistant pastor took some of the team to go shooting with a church member who was a sheriff. On our off day, the staff took us adults out to eat at a local Mexican restaurant and we enjoyed more conversations with each other. It was a sweet way to end a sweet week with this church. March 7-12 Yates Thagard Baptist Church Carthage, NC After our time in Dublin, NC, we drove over to Carthage to be with the people of Yates Thagard Baptist Church. We held regular meetings with the church Sunday-Tuesday that week. We loved connecting with people both before and after the services. Before the services, we had presessions with the adults, teens, and kids. It was actually the first time this year that we had the opportunity to do kids presessions. On a given night, you would find one of the team girls doing an object lesson with the kids that would coincide with the lesson that would be taught later in the kids program. The kids program this week was definitely dynamic. This week definitely stands out as one of the most energetic and involved kids programs! We brought in a special guest to aid in the skit, Ryan McCarty (a former team member who was with us the last time we were here). It was a special treat for the kids who had been there a couple years before and recognized Ryan. The last night was definitely fun when the kids brought signs to represent who they wanted to win the week! On Wednesday night we did an Irish concert. It was especially fun when some of the kids and teens in the church brought their bluegrass instruments to play along with us after the concert! Friday was special in that we had the opportunity to minister to the senior saints. They held a luncheon which we provided music for. We provided music for the program part of it and Stephanie (Wright) and Mike shared ways that God has been working in their lives. Friday night was a Cola War with the teens, and it was another great connecting point with them. This church was so sweet in how they tangibly served us. We enjoyed getting to partner with Yates-Thagard Baptist Church for the sake of the Gospel. March 14
Morningside Baptist Church Greenville, SC Before parting ways for our spring break, our team was able to serve at Morningside Baptist Church in Greenville, SC all day on Sunday. On Sunday morning, we did the music in the main service. Then afterwards during Sunday school, our team split and went to various classes. A few of us lead the singing in the college class, and then Mike shared a testimony. That afternoon, the guys on team met with the pastors and a ministry-mentoring class to discuss various aspects of ministry including what Aaron does in the summer with Spread the Word in Detroit. That evening we held an Irish concert. Many family members and friends of team members were able to make it along with people that were invited from the community. It was definitely a sweet way to end the day right before we split for our spring break. |
