First Baptist Church Gallipolis, OH Our time in Gallopolis was a fun week of ministry, fellowship, eating…and more eating…and more eating. We ate lunches with the church staff and sweet lunch ladies each day, enjoyed a big dinner before the service with all the church folks, and finished up the evening after the nightly services with a dessert fellowship. The ladies of the church kept bringing in desserts. Somehow they never ran out. To say that we rolled out of Gallopolis is a massive understatement! It was a sweet blessing to have so many opportunities to enjoy getting to know the people of First Baptist in Gallipolis this past week. Thursday evening, we had a family fun night, and the church had no qualms about jumping right in and being involved in the games! We enjoyed laughing with the church. We also had teen pre-sessions and our kids program throughout the week. Irish concert night, we had nearly 70 children in our kids program! Throughout the week, we were able to enjoy dinners before the service with the church, as well as dessert fellowships after the service. Since there was a Christian school, we were able to do chapels for all the grades throughout the week. Aaron, Hudson, and Mike all had a part in sharing God’s word with the elementary and high school kids, and we got to do some music for the kids as well. On Monday, Nat, Rachel, Josh, Mike, and Hudson got to play kickball during middle school PE, and throughout the week we got to eat lunch with the high schoolers. Jobe got to be a part of the elementary Field Day and even won a few ribbons. Friday, the team enjoyed an off day over in West Virginia! They spent the afternoon playing disc golf and pickleball, and in the evening they were able to spend time with Pastor Aaron and his wife Joy. We enjoyed spending time with the pastoral staff and the school staff throughout the week. The people and staff of First Baptist truly went out of their way to be intentional with all of us and bless us greatly. We’re already looking forward to our next visit to this church! Boones Creek Bible Church Johnson City, Tennessee We spent last week in Tennessee at Boones Creek Bible Church. We arrived on Saturday and after setup, we had dinner with a few members of one of the church small groups. On Sunday, we were blessed to be able to spend Easter with this church body! We held Sunday school, and then we had a sweet time rejoicing in our Savior’s resurrection during the morning service. In the evening, we had a singspiration where we went through the five threads of the Gospel and responded in song. It was a sweet way to end our Easter services! Afterwards, our team had our annual easter egg hunt in the church, with Hudson finding the prized golden egg. Monday evening we had a split men’s and ladies night, and we enjoyed getting to know the church body on a more casual level that evening. Steph spoke to the ladies from Psalm 34, tasting and seeing that God is good, and the men enjoyed trying out 10 different flavors of Tillamook ice cream, having some intense competition, and gathering around the Word. After the services a couple of evenings, the team hung out in the gym. One night a group of people played pickleball, the next Spikeball and another night was basketball. It was fun to engage with BCBC friends for some friendly competition. After the service on Tuesday, we held the annual Coffey Masters Tournament! Hudson set up a pretty cool course around the church, and we divided into teams to compete for bragging rights and Starbucks gift cards. Hudson incorporated a new twist this year with secret cards located throughout the course, where if your ball ran over the card, it would either be to your advantage or disadvantage depending on the card. This year, Aaron, Natalie, and Liam took the win, and Liam won the individual competition. We always have a blast doing our tournament, and this year was no different. Thursday night was our Irish concert, and our final service of the week. We had a great time throughout the week getting to know the pastoral staff and the church members! Pastor Cunningham was a personal blessing to many of us. Click "Read More" to see more pictures from our week at Boones Creek Bible! April 3rd-7th
Community Baptist Church Garner, NC It was such a blessing to serve at Community Baptist this past week. We really enjoyed serving with such a sweet body of believers. Saturday night, after our arrival and setup, we were able to sit down with Pastor Mike and hear his testimony as well as how the church came to be 17 years ago! On Sunday, we celebrated those 17 years with an anniversary service, and afterwards we had a church-wide fellowship. The team set up nine-square and played with the teenagers that afternoon. There was no service that evening, so Pastor and his family took us bowling! We had a blast competing and enjoying each other’s company. Rachel was on fire! Monday and Tuesday, we had regular services with teen pre-sessions and our kids program. On Wednesday, we had a family fun night, and we loved how excited the church was to compete in the activities. We had a wonderful time laughing together with the church. Thursday we had our Irish concert, and we were thrilled to have Aaron’s parents visit for the concert, as well as several of Natalie’s family members and friends. It is always so special when family is able to come to a service. Friday night, we finished our week at Community with a dodgeball tournament. The youth group and our team members were actively canvassing throughout the week in the afternoons for both the Irish concert and the dodgeball tournament, and we were able to see the Lord work through that at our dodgeball tournament, as several teenagers we met while canvassing came out to play dodgeball. The response after Aaron’s message was overwhelming, and a few even got saved. Praise the Lord! At the end of the week, the Coffey family added a new member to their clan. They adopted a sweet new puppy, Cuppa Joe. He and Brew (their other doggy!) are becoming fast friends! This little guy has brought so much joy to the whole team already. We’re already looking forward to our next time of ministry with Community Baptist! Click "Read More" to see more pictures from our week at Community Baptist! March 27th-31st
Yates-Thagard Baptist Church Carthage, NC Our team had 2 weeks of spring break, and it was refreshing for everyone to spend time with family and friends. Our first church back after spring break was Yates-Thagard Baptist Church in Carthage, North Carolina. We had a full week of ministry and we were blessed with our time with this church. On Sunday morning, Aaron had Sunday school with the adults and the team was with the teenagers. We did special music for the morning service, and in the evening, we had a family fun night. Before the evening service, we had a hot dog fellowship with quite the dessert spread! Monday and Tuesday evening we held our regular services with teen pre sessions and kids’ program. On Tuesday, we had the special opportunity to be a part of the seniors’ luncheon! We enjoyed delicious Mexican food and sweet conversations, and we were able to play a few songs for the group as well. We had a great time laughing at Aaron doing his Mexican version of “She’ll Be Coming ‘Round the Mountain” while wearing a sombrero, and one of the ladies got up and did some clogging while we played music. Wednesday evening we had our Irish concert, and we were encouraged by the willingness of the church to invite their friends and family to the concert. Thursday night, we had a dodgeball tournament for the teenagers, and we had about 50 kids show up for the event. We always have such an awesome time hosting dodgeball tournaments, and we had a great time throughout the week connecting with the sweet teens in the church. The youth group came up to Detroit this past summer on a mission trip to “Spread the Word”, and we enjoyed seeing both new and old faces during our week with the church. On Friday, the team, plus Ella and Asher, got to go on a few plane rides with a member of the church! We’re always so thankful when people go out of their way to offer us fun and memorable experiences. A few of the team members even got to fly the plane (with assistance) for a few minutes! We’re always encouraged by our time at Yates-Thagard, and we’re looking forward to our next week of ministry with them!
