Big Branch Baptist Church - Hindman, KY

We were privileged to serve in Hindman, Kentucky at Big Branch Baptist Church with Pastor Rob Paddock. As the week started, the church members were thankful for good weather that made it possible for them to come fellowship and worship. (They had missed a few Sundays in the past month due to snow and ice...and in the hills of Kentucky, there’s not much going on when there’s a lot of stuff on the roads!) The Beth’el Christian Academy had not had school for two weeks straight, so we were thankful to have time with them throughout the week. Aaron, Jason and Brad all preached in chapels, and we all spent time getting to know the students.

Monday afternoon, Pastor Paddock took us to a local luthier in downtown Hindman, where they specialized in crafting mountain dulcimers. Our entire team spent the next couple of hours, staring in amazement at the variety instruments in differing stages of completion. We got to play a bell shaped guitar and took our mandolin in for an adjustment.

Thursday was an all-day event for the students at the Christian school with games, competitions, and chapel sessions. We played games like Tic-Tac Challenge, relay races and even an egg drop. We enjoyed the opportunity to get to know the students, and we praise the Lord that one of the students got saved during the week!

What a great turn out for the Irish Concert on Thursday night!  There were many visitors and we praise the Lord for each profession of faith made throughout the week. We are thankful for the faithfulness of Pastor Paddock and his continued work to reach the community in Hindman, Kentucky.
