Boones Creek Bible Church - Johnson City, TN

We enjoyed the opportunities the Lord provided to partner with Boones Creek Bible Church. The church has started a push called “Love Works”, and our week held many events where the church could reach out to the community and their relationships with the Gospel!

Sunday was a great start to our time together, and we felt excitement from the people! We began the “Love Works” on Monday night with a men’s outreach at the church. The first part of the night was filled with basketball 3-on-3, free throw competitions, a lure casting competition, and of course…FOOD! The men took Aaron’s “Man Quiz” and had fun being questioned about random man facts and finding the most knowledgeable table. After the team played some fiddle tunes, Aaron challenged the men with the truth of the gospel.

Tuesday was the ladies’ turn for a night to themselves. The church ladies decorated the foyer beautifully for us all to enjoy some food and desserts. We loved the time to chat while enjoying some delicious refreshments! The team played some music and Aaron even serenaded the ladies with “Puttin’ on the Dog” before Stephanie shared the Gospel. There were several ladies who brought some of their friends, neighbors, and co-workers, and it was a privilege to partner in planting seeds of the Gospel with them!

Wednesday afternoon we packed up our instruments and headed into downtown Johnson City to put on a mini concert of bluegrass music in a church member’s restaurant. While the  patrons of the Holy Taco enjoyed the bluegrass music and ate their chips and salsa, we played music and the church folks passed out information about the Irish Concert! What a great venue to get the word out.

God really answered prayer for Thursday’s Cola War. Andrew Isbell, the youth pastor at Boones Creek picked up 28 teens to come join the fun. Andrew’s faithfulness in picking up these teens, spending time with them, and continually planting gospel seeds in their lives helped the teens to attend each night. God is at work! Three teens gave their lives to Christ throughout the week and many seeds of truth were planted in hearts.

On Friday our team headed to East Tennessee State University to play under a pavilion outside their student life center. We played some bluegrass music, and as college students passed by the platform we were playing on, Pastor Cunningham and other church members passed out invitations to our Irish concert for that night. Praise the Lord for open doors! We loved the chance to help their church in new outreach opportunities. The Irish Concert showed the hard work of the church – the entire auditorium was packed!

Pastor Cunningham’s passion to reach his community is evidenced in his life and brought out in their church’s theme for the year – Love Works. We have seen his love for his church, the community and for the Lord. Thank you Boones Creek for your ministry to us as we served alongside you this week. We are so thankful that the work of Christ in hearts of men, women and children does not lie with us but in the hands of the all-powerful God.
