To say our week at Calvary Baptist Church in Findlay, Ohio was the busiest week of our semester so far would be an understatement! The week was full of so many opportunities for us serve the people of Calvary Baptist. Last fall spent our team training at their church as well as helped out their Christian school retreat at the start of their school year. What a privilege to be back with this church again! Sunday through Tuesday were “normal” evening services for our team with the added bonus of having Pastor Bill and Sheila Coffey around. Pastor Coffey and Aaron alternated nights preaching throughout the week. This was an added blessing for Aaron, not only to get to be around his dad, but to listen to his pastor preach. (Aaron’s dad is the pastor from our ministry’s sending church.) We saw God use His Word to work in the hearts of the church before we began our nights that were outreach events!
Our first night of Gospel outreach was Wednesday night – the Chocolate Café! Let’s just say Calvary went above and beyond for this night with catered specialty coffee drinks, a chocolate bar, and a spread of delicious finger foods. Stephanie was able to present the gospel that night to over 90 women - praise the Lord! And later we heard that two women accepted Christ as their Savior that night! Thursday night we had a number of services going on at the same time. At 6:00, the teens began trickling in for the Cola War. We were pleased with the efforts of our canvassing on Wednesday and earlier that afternoon. We stood across from Findlay High School as teens were released for free lunch and could walk across the streets to the local restaurants to eat. We handed out cans of Coke and Pepsi on “Smoker’s Corner” to the students walking by. In the adult service, the children preformed their program of what they had learned in the Secret Keepers that week. Once they dismissed to the children’s nightly meeting, Pastor Coffey preached to the adults, Seth preached to the children, and Aaron preached to the teens. What a crazy and exciting night! The Lord worked in so many hearts that night as more than ten teens went out for counseling. Friday night was our Irish Concert at Calvary. Throughout the week we heard of many people responding to God’s working in their lives--some coming to know the Lord for the first time in their lives, while others restored their relationship with Him and others after years of hardness. We cannot praise Him enough for His work through the Word and kindness to use people like us to do great and mighty things for His Kingdom. We so enjoyed our days at Calvary Baptist and the people we were able to serve there. We are so grateful that we were able to serve alongside Pastor Coffey and his wife and that the Aaron, Steph, and the kids were able to spend some extra time with them!
