Pastor John Dooley and Pastor Joel Wegner have been long time friends of Aaron. Their faithfulness in ministering to the people of Colonial Baptist Church is evident in the congregation’s lives. Their sweet kindness toward us in providing snacks and delicious food all week, staying around to talk for a long while after the services were over and their constant and bold prayers for Aaron as he preached through sickness, encouraged us in our ministry.

From the get go the teens at Colonial were so excited for us to be there. We had a blast getting to know these teens and talking with them and being crazy together! The children were also very excited during the Secret Keepers program. We were glad for the energy in playing games, learning the Secret Codes, verse and song. We pray that their hearts prove to be tender ground for the Word to plant gospel seeds and bring fruit in God’s time.

Wednesday lunch we had lunch with the Sunshine group (the church’s Seniors group) and were able to glean some wisdom from these seasoned believers. After some bluegrass music and games, Aaron brought a message from Philippians 4 about having joy in all circumstances. One of the questions during lunch was to find out who had been saved the longest. Many of these Christians had been following the Lord for over 70 year! The faithfulness of these brothers and sisters in Christ was a great encouragement to our team. We are thankful for these men and women’s example of walking with God for so long.

We did some door-to-door canvassing on Wednesday and invited people out to the special concert on Thursday night. God filled the auditorium with people. We opened the doors at 6:30 for some bluegrass before the concert – people from Virginia certainly love some bluegrass music! We thank God for the opportunity to use such a fun outreach to bring people to hear the gospel.

Friday’s Cola War was one of the most exciting that we have seen all semester. There were several churches who brought some teens from their youth group to join in on the activity. The teens had a blast, and our team enjoyed the time of competition and fellowship with such a great group of kids. The Gospel went forth, and we are praying that God would continue working and softening their hearts to the Word!

A week like ours at Colonial Baptist Church really does much to lift our spirits. There are many people that have labored hard in prayer for our team, and we thank them for their selfless giving to us. We will miss the friends and co-laborers for the Lord at Colonial.
