The church of Grace Baptist in Romeo was a great encouragement to us this past week. Pastor Andy Burak and the people there were so friendly and welcoming to our team. The last time the Coffey’s had been at Grace, the congregation was faithfully meeting in a storefront. However, the Lord provided a beautiful church building just off of Main Street that they have been meeting in for the past month. They have been doing numerous renovations to their building and still have a long list of to do’s, but we are excited to see what God is doing in this church plant in Romeo.
On Sunday, the church was filled with excitement about the week. What a great start to our time together! Monday and Tuesday continued to grow as we encouraged the church members of all ages to invite their friends to come. Wednesday and Thursday our team and some teens from the church went out to the local middle and high schools to invite teens to Thursday’s Cola War.
We were praying that God would bring enough teens to have a Cola War on Thursday, and God certainly answered! For our first Cola War of the fall, Jason was in charge of everything. God brought in teens from partnering churches and the community to give us almost 30 teens. We were all so excited to see God at work, but our joy was certainly dwarfed by that of the members of Grace Baptist.
To say Friday was a great turn out for the Irish Concert would be an understatement. There were so many people, we had to bring in dozens of extra chairs to fit everyone in the auditorium. We were excited to see what God is doing at Grace Baptist in Romeo, Michigan, and we pray that He will continue to build this church for His glory!
