Holiday Bible Church (Holiday, FL)

After a great week in Palm Harbor, we headed twenty minutes north to Holiday, Florida. We had been looking forward to serving at Holiday Bible Church with Pastor Bo Bowman.  Bo has been serving at Holiday Bible for just over two years and has seen great growth in his church. When he came there were seventeen people at the church. Over the past couple of years, God has been adding people to the church from the surrounding community.

Sunday morning was a great blessing as we got started! The church was full with excitement and people as we worshiped the Lord together. That night ,the men met together for a bacon buffet. You read that right – a bacon buffet! The men were preparing bacon in ways you have never seen before--chocolate covered bacon, hot bacon, sweet bacon, and even a banana and orange slice wrapped in bacon. Needless to say, there was enough meat there to satisfy the men! To finish off the evening, Aaron brought a challenge of following Jesus no matter what the cost. The men ended the night in prayer for each other—opening up about areas where they struggled denying themselves and encouraging each other to love Jesus more!
 
On Monday night, the ladies came together for a night of dessert, coffee, and fellowship together. After eating and laughing for a bit, Stephanie shared a message from Psalm 63—encouraging the ladies to identify idols of their heart and seeing a need to desire God above all things. At the end of the evening, the ladies opened up to the ladies at their table about how God was revealing their own idolatry. It was powerful to see women in deep conversation, even in tears, sharing their burdens with one another and bearing up one another in love.
 
Wednesday was a night of laughter for all those who came to our Family Fun Night! Games, fun songs, and crazy competition made the night one to remember. Everyone from the children to the men of the church was excited to get involved in the excitement. Aaron ended out the night with Philippians 4 – rejoicing in God alone through any circumstance that comes. From our time at Holiday Bible Church, we know that they are striving to have joy in Christ--even in the midst of replanting a church and renovating their building. We look forward to see them again and to glorify God because of what He has done through this body of believers in Holiday.
