Lakewood Baptist Church (Delafield, WI)

We had a great week of ministry with Pastor Dave Marriott of Lakewood Baptist Church in Delafield, Wisconsin. Being a church plant of six years, the church does not have its own building yet and rents different places to meet together on Sunday and Wednesdays. (They’re currently in a building project, and it’s exciting to see God lead them in developing roots in their community.)

​Stephanie parted from the team a few days earlier than our departure from Wixom, Michigan,  so she could meet up with the ladies from Lakewood and speak at their annual Ladies’ Retreat. Their theme for the retreat was “Treasuring Christ”, and each of her sessions were taken from Philippians 3-4. It was a rare treat for her to get so much time with the ladies of a church. She was encouraged by many of them during the weekend retreat as well as throughout the week. What a blessing to come away and be refreshed in the Word. She met back up with us later on Saturday evening.
 
We had a great start to our week on Sunday morning. Sunday afternoon we headed out to Delafield with Pastor Isaiah Lewis and the youth group to canvass the area to invite teens to Monday’s teen outreach. With the cold weather, there weren’t very many teens out but Pastor Isaiah challenged the teens to share the Gospel with whomever they met that day. The teens spoke afterward about the conversations they were able to have, and we all left a little more burdened for the souls of Delafield.
 
Even with the Cola War at the beginning of the week, we had a great turn out. There were plenty of teens to add to the fun and we were thankful for the handful of visitors who came. Thanks to the invitation of the teens in the youth group, many visitors acknowledged their uncertainty of their position before God and their desire to ask questions. Praise the Lord for His working hand!
 
Tuesday night Pastor Dave reserved the Summer Stage for us in a local park to host our Irish Concert. Having the concert at the outside venue was a great idea, and the turnout was so encouraging. Pastor Dave said that there was hardly a member of his church there without at least one guest.
 
Wednesday night at the family fun night, we also had many visitors. A team favorite, the night is a fun atmosphere to invite family and friends to come and enjoy games and excitement while also having a time for them to hear the Gospel. What an encouraging week for us to see a church so passionate about reaching their community for the Gospel and knowing their God better. Thank you Lakewood Baptist Church for your partnership in Christ!
